RyanAir has opened its latest flight hub, at Southend Airport following Burroughs’ involvement in the runway resurfacing project. In order for plans for the hub to be put in place, RyanAir required a friction resistant runway fit to accommodate a Boeing 737-800. Burroughs undertook the full design of the resurfacing of the runway for London Southend Airport, while Lagan constructed the grooved Marshall Asphalt.

Following the works RyanAir opened their base at London Southend on 1st April 2019 operating 50 flights a week to 13 destinations.
