A number of Burroughs’ engineers took a trip to Margam Castle, Port Talbot to take part in the ICE Bridge Building Event. Budding young engineers aged between 4 and 16 were tasked with building the 12-meter replica of the Second Severn Bridge. Volunteers from Burroughs, Alun Griffiths and Mott MacDonald were on hand to assist, as well as talk to the children about what it is like to be an engineer and how they became one.

Once the bridge was complete participants could walk across to test their creation (luckily there was no toll involved). The event was extremely enjoyable for all and will hopefully inspire the next generation of engineers in Wales. We look forward to putting on our hard hats and high vis jackets once more when we return on 29th April for more bridge building fun!
