Westmount Quarry

Burroughs were engaged by Dandara Homes to undertake the detailed design of a drainage system supporting a series of apartment units constructed on a podium slab. The project comprised a detailed walk-over survey, plotting the outfall route from the development to the sea, the development of complex underslung drainage beneath the podium and within the car parking decks.

Significant project interests included the complexities of developing the solution within the base of a derelict quarry involving high drops within the external drainage system whilst giving consideration to noise as well as flows. Also there was a requirement to introduce a take-off point within the surface water attenuation (located within public land) to allow the Local Authority to utilise the stored water for plant watering and general public garden maintenance. Burroughs led the detailed process working collaboratively with the architect, developer and local authority.
