Cardiff Airport – UEFA Champions League

On 3rd June 2017 Cardiff welcomed two of the biggest European football clubs, Real Madrid and Juventus for the UEFA Champions League Final. With many players and fans travelling to experience the event there was to be a significant strain on the infrastructural network of the city including Cardiff Airport.

Cardiff Airport appointed Burroughs to procure temporary terminal facilities to accommodate the significant short term increase in passenger numbers. Various temporary structures were supplied to Cardiff Airport, including a 30 metre wide arrivals and departures temporary terminal inclusive of toilet facilities, power, lighting, air conditioning and furniture.

The commission also included the procurement of all associated security equipment including liquid explosive detection, explosive detection and metal detection machines.

Burroughs collaborated with Cardiff Airport on site to ensure successful delivery, erection and subsequent removal of the structures.  The additional 21,000 passengers were able to travel safely to and from the event.
